Halloween Parade

Our Halloween parade is almost here.  Will kick things off at 1:30, make our way through the building and out to a playground loop (weather permitting).  All parents who wish to watch the parade should line up along the outside of the fence surrounding the playground, we will loop inside the fence along that way.  Watch for us come out of the 5th grade doors on Markese, then wind our way along the playground, ending up at the main doors of the building and dropping them back to their classrooms.  As a reminder, no inappropriate costumes or weapons- please leave masks at home as they pose a risk of tripping during the parade.

A Note from Mrs. Dalton, Physical Education Teacher

Please help your child remember to wear/pack their gym shoes on their scheduled PE day so they can safely participate in activities.  Also, if for some reason your child is unable to participate in PE due to injury/illness please take a minute to send in a note.  Otherwise, they will be expected to give their best effort in class.
Thank you,
Mrs. Dalton

Three Fires and 3rd Graders

The third graders participated in a presentation by the Huron-Clinton Metroparks Mobile Learning Center.  The program, “The Three Fires,” explored the lives of the Ojibway, Odawa, and Potawatomi Native American tribes in Michigan.  The children learned about the tools, shelter, language, and survival strategies through artifacts, replicas and demonstrations.  Hands-on learning included fire-making and pump drilling.

DTE Presentation with our 4th graders

DTE Energy THINK! ENERGY

Arno fourth grade students had a great DTE Energy presentation this week called THINK! ENERGY TAKE ACTION! This was a 60 minute interactive, hands-on presentation with a take home energy efficiency kit for each participating student. The program taught our students the importance of energy, natural resources and environmental resources, and gave each participating student’s family energy-efficient technologies to install at home.

NWEA

Fall testing for the NWEA is finally complete.  Thank you to all of our teachers for helping our students navigate the test,  I couldn’t be happier with how smooth it went on our chromebooks (thanks PTA!)  and this is a good practice run for m-step online in the spring.  You should be receiving information about your child’s scores at the upcoming conferences.

No Parking

Please understand that for the benefit of everyone who drops off or picks up,  there is No Parking allowed on our side of Markese, Fox, or Thomas during drop off (8:00-9:00) and pick-up (3:00-4:00) at any time.  If you must park to walk your child, you are required to park along another side street and walk in.  It is not an ideal situation, but necessary to keep up the flow of traffic around the building.  Again, if you can help out in any way with traffic before or after school. please contact the office.

Fall Conferences

It seems like just yesterday that we were welcoming everyone back, and now we are already up to conferences.  Parent/Teacher conferences will take place on November 19th 5:30-7:30 and November 23 12:30-7:30.  Information will be coming home soon on how to sign up for a slot that works for your schedule.  When info is sent home, please be timely in returning it so that we have all the times together when the teachers sit down to schedule.

Have an  AWESOME week Cougars!
