Thank you to everyone who attended the skating party last night. By the looks on all of the smiling faces, it was a great time with all our Cougars. If were not able to make this event, there will be another PTA Skating Party on February 26 @6:00. Hope to see out there!
You may have noticed that we have increased patrols around the school during the morning and afternoon by the Allen Park Police Dept. As the weather continues to worsen, we will have an increase in the number of cars making their way around the building. Please remember- there are no dropoffs on Markese. Dropoff and pick-ups take place on Fox and Thomas.
Please remember there is no parking in the drop-off areas, and under circumstance should students be dropped off in the middle of any street to walk across. Thank you for you cooperation.
A Big Arno Thank You goes out to Allen Park firefighters Rob and Jason. They recently came to Arno this week, gear and all, to demonstrate and talk about being safe and what to do if there was a fire to our K-3 students. Arno students also got to enjoy their large remote control fire truck with none other than a Dalmatian driving it through the crowd. Please take a moment to ask your child what they learned about fire safety and what you plan might be for getting out of your house in the event of an emergency.
As part of our continued implementation of positive behavior support at Arno, the PBIS team will be selling Smencils for $1.00 and Car Clings for $5.00 at our upcoming conferences in November. Please help support our initiative. The money raised will be used towards the purchase of incentive prizes for the students.
The Arno 5th Grade is now selling Little Caesar’ Pizza kits to help the increasing cost of camp. Camp is a valuable real-world learning experience that our kids take on the early spring. We will have a sign up sheet in the office if you are interested in purchasing some. If you cannot make it into the office, feel free to email us and we can help you place your order. Please consider helping them out, money is due 10/22, delivery on 10/28
Breakfast and Lunch Program
If you believe that you may qualify for free or reduced lunch, we ask that you please submit the application that went home in September or pick up a new one from the office as soon as possible. Our total count for free/reduced lunch helps the district receive federal funds to run our Title 1 program and help our at-risk students.
If you are not sure about the guidelines or have any other questions, please call the office @827-1050
It’s that Spooky time of year…
Please remember to get your child’s costume ready for the Arno Elementary Halloween parade that will take place on October 30 @1:30. We will be doing an outside loop weather permitting with all of our classrooms showcasing their cool creations. The students will then go back to their classrooms for their Halloween party or class.
Please remember- appropriate costumes only and no weapons of any kind.
Have a great Cougar week!
Welcome to our new school blog. Here you will find more of a weekly update as we go through the year, the regular monthly newsletter will no longer be published. I would love to build this up as a great resource for parents, so if you have some amazing links that could be added- please email me all the information.
So far it has been an awesome month at Arno, lots of Cougar Cash being passed out and everyone has been enjoying the fall weather. We are looking forward to Halloween in a couple of weeks, please read below for more info. As always, please contact me or stop if you have any needs.

10/23 2nd Grade to the Apple Orchard
10/29 Fall Arts and Music Show 5:30

Please remember that all visitors must report to the office, this applies to the entire before, during, and after school time periods. Also, please do not ask a student for entry if you are at one of the side doors. They are instructed to not open any door and get an adult who will redirect to the main office. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining safety at Arno!
In addition to visiting, please once again remember that the drop off zone is in front of the building on Fox. There is no dropping off, standing, or parking on Markese, this is potentially dangerous, especially when students are dropped off in the middle of the street. We are still in need of many volunteers to help with traffic flow in the a.m. and p.m. Please contact the office if you are interested.
Even though it sure doesn’t feel like the cold is coming, it’s surely on its way. Please remember to dress your child appropriately for waiting outside in line, recess, etc. We will always be outside unless there is inclement weather or a wind chill around 10 degrees.
Don’t forget our PTA skating party is from 6:00-8:00 this Thursday. Parents must remain with their child and there is a charge for in-line skates. Hope to see out there!
On Friday, our elementary staff from Arno, Bennie, and Lindemann were hard at work here at Bennie creating math assessments to be used as a diagnostic tool in all grades. By analyzing the data from these classroom assessments, our teaching staff will be better able to meet all learners at their specific level of need. Mr. Darga, Mrs. Metzger, the principals of Lindemann and Bennie, and I are very proud of our teaching staff and grateful to be working with such dedicated professionals for the benefit of all children.
Please remember to put our Arno Halloween Parade on your calendar on October 30 @1:30. We will be doing a full loop around the school, weather permitting. If the weather does not cooperate, we will move the parade indoors.
Students should be bringing their costumes to school as the morning will be academics, they may change after lunch into their outfit. Please send in only appropriate costumes, no weapons, and leave masks at home.
Just a friendly reminder, the first camp payment for 5th graders is due on Oct. 16th. Thank you for being on time!
Have a great week Cougars!
